In 1998
Veronika Varjasi founded Open Casting.
After working as a model and gaining experience with model and casting agencies, Vera started her agency, Open Casting. In the beginning, our agency mostly worked with commercials.
A few years later the Golden Age of Hungarian advertising arrived with directors coming to Budapest from around the world to film commercials. Shoots not only lasted several days on site but also came with generous budgets. Besides the commercials, we also began to work with castings for Hungarian feature films.
10 years later
the 2008 financial crisis has rearranged the world and our industry. At the same time, a new door opened for Open Casting. Far fewer commercials were produced but we have got a new chance to start working on international feature films and TV series. The first in the row was the casting of the BBC series Robin Hood, after which the floodgates opened, paving the way for us to work with more and more international films, including Hollywood super productions.
It was at this time that Zsolt Maier joined the team. His vision, professionalism, and ambition helped us to reach a new level. Thanks to him and all our colleagues we were able to start working as a competent team.
Today
Open Casting is one of the oldest casting agencies in Hungary, with an extensive range of experiences in Hungarian feature films and commercials, and is a recurring casting partner of international film productions.
Thanks to our unique methods, we can find any character for a role, from professional to amateur actors, extras belonging to any ethnic or age group, or the best talent for any role that requires special knowledge or ability.
In our continuously updated database, there are nearly 90,000 talents – actors, actresses, models, and any kind of background extras, while we also cast cars and vehicles.
As an all-around casting agency, we manage all casting tasks from feature films, film series, music videos and commercials to photo shootings of ad campaigns.
